BIOGRAPHY

Mr. Edward Marc Fishman is the current PORAC Legal Defense Fund Administrator.

Before attaining his position as the Legal Administrator in July 2007 he had a solo practice in Petaluma, California known as the “Law Offices of Edward Marc Fishman” which he opened in March of 1993. There his practice emphasized in litigation and administrative/ labor law.  Mr. Fishman has had the joy of building his business from the ground up and he has obtained much success.

Early in his years of practice he represented a variety of peace officers in matters relating to their employment. With this type of experience and affiliation he became a panel attorney for the PORAC Legal Defense Fund. As such, he has acquired an even larger array of experience and knowledge in representing officers and their associations in matters relating to administrative discipline, civil proceedings, criminal prosecutions, labor negotiations and a variety of other related matters. His personal insight into the laws and policies of peace officers and their associations has and will continue to assist him as the Legal Administrator.

Mr. Fishman has had numerous achievements as a practicing lawyer, one of his most recent and notable accomplishment was for the defense of an officer who was alleged to be one of the members of the “Oakland Riders.”
Edward Fishman was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York where he attended and graduated South Shore High School. In continuance of his education he received a Bachelors Degree in Rhetoric and Communication with a Business Minor at the State University of New York at Albany (in 1982).  Shortly thereafter, upon moving to California, Edward obtained a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Hastings College of the Law in the spring of 1991 and became a sworn active member of the California State Bar Association beginning in December of the same year.

Edward Fishman’s vast knowledge and experiences have aided him in continuing to pursue a dynamic relationship between peace officers, attorneys and staff, which Legal Defense Fund strives to ensure.
